Here is the simplest circuit of 5v Voltage regulator which takes more than 30V from DC source and gives 5V at the output it can be used to run many miniature IC's and operational amplifiers. It is very easy to built and also is very cheap as well as readily available.
Please use a small heat sink with it to prevent it from over heating otherwise it can burn out and may damage your electronic device connected to its output.
Pin 2 >> ground / common
